THREE LITTLE WORDS: A Memoir

This book was written by Ashley, about her real life experience in "the system".  She entered the system when she was four, and was in and out of 14 foster placements before she got her first CASA, who actually requested she advocate for Ashley because she found out no one had ever advocated for her.

This is a great read for new CASA's, people considering becoming a CASA, and for our seasoned CASA's.  It is available at the local libraries and it is a quick read, that is hard to put down.

INTO THE WORLD: A LIFE BOOK

Into the World: A Life Book was written for youth who are transitioning from the foster care system to living independently (youth can "age out" of care between the ages of 18 and 21). It's meant to provide general guidance on independent living - like finding and keeping a home, getting a job, managing your money - and also specific information on where to go to get more help if you need it.
